Mailen Design Awarded Phase 3 at Dolphin Square

We are proud to announce that we have been appointed as Architect and Lead Designer for Phase 3 of Dolphin Square. This appointment—passed unanimously—is a significant milestone in our ongoing relationship with the estate and a powerful endorsement of the quality, consistency, and vision that our team brings to complex multi-residential projects. 

This next phase builds upon two years of intensive involvement with Dolphin Square, where our work has spanned technical delivery, compliance monitoring, and strategic advisory roles. Initially awarded the role of Architect and Lead Designer for Phase 2, our involvement grew to include delivering additional spaces in Phase 1, transforming the ground floor retail offering, proposing a reimagined design for the estate’s former petrol station site, and an ongoing role as compliance monitoring team.  

GROWING THE PROJECT AND PRACTICE 

From the outset, our approach to Dolphin Square has been guided by a commitment to design excellence, technical rigour, and collaboration with the estate’s stakeholders. These principles have shaped both the transformation of the estate and the evolution of our practice. 

Phase 2 has been instrumental in embedding our team into the fabric of Dolphin Square. Working across the south and east blocks, we have coordinated delivery within a highly constrained and phased environment, balancing technical demands with resident priorities and contractor input in real time. This hands-on experience has given us a unique perspective on the estate—not as an abstract set of challenges, but as a living environment undergoing transformation. 

The lessons learned and systems refined during this phase have strengthened our capability. They have allowed us to streamline delivery, standardise approaches, and develop a deeper understanding of how best to enhance the estate’s architectural identity whilst meeting modern living standards. Continuing as Architect and Lead Designer for Phase 3 will allow us to take that embedded knowledge and apply it with fresh energy and ambition.

We enter Phase 3 with a clear vision shaped by experience, guided by care, and underpinned by an unwavering commitment to quality. Our proposals for this next stage will support the smooth delivery of a phase that refines and uplifts the transformation already underway. This involves careful consideration of resident experience, the estate’s historic character, and its long-term position within London’s residential landscape.
