Dan Dan Restaurant’s design merges functionality with contemporary aesthetics, reimagining the essence of Sichuan dining in a modern, urban London context. To achieve an efficient and cost-effective fit-out, Mailen Design embraced the space’s existing raw materials, balancing concrete walls and exposed ceilings with warm timber accents and bold signage. This thoughtful use of unrefined elements creates a dynamic environment that resonates with modern design principles while addressing the practical constrains and needs of our client.

Sustainability
Sustainability was a central focus in the design process. Mailen Design selected durable, natural materials like timber to ensure longevity and reduce the need for frequent replacements. The kitchen was carefully designed for operational efficiency, supporting sustainable practices by minimising energy use and waste. Large windows were incorporated to maximise natural light, enhancing the dining experience while reducing reliance on artificial lighting.

HAZ Mincing Lane
High-end fine dining restaurant and bar for multi site Turkish restaurant
Alongside interior design and branding agency ‘I-AM’ Mailen Design provided architectural design and contract administration services through the complete re-branding and upgrading of an existing site for successful three-service restaurant in the City of London.
Highly bespoke intricate material details transformed a tired, quiet space into a striking high quality interior. Combination of timber, plaster, copper and marble finishes bring a very rich warm palette. Careful thought was given to the integration of lighting, music and air con systems to create a not only visually strong but comfortable space for diners.
Following the successful completion of the first site in Mincing Lane in the City of London the client is now progressing with the development of the concept over a number of new sites being acquired.
The scheme was awarded Best London Restaurant at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2018.
