Owlscote Barn

Grade II Listed Barn Conversion

This restoration project took a dilapidated but Listed agricultural barn in the heart of a small South Oxfordshire village and turned it into a completely contemporary home with modern fixtures, fittings and smart home controls.

Extensive structural repairs were painstakingly conducted to the historic timber frame, complimented by an internal steel mezzanine maximising the available space within the large internal volume. Due to the nature of the existing building all of the external masonry needed to be repaired and reconstructed using traditional methods. Sections of brickwork were taken apart by hand, carefully categorised and replaced in the same positions to maintain original patterns whilst upgrading the mortar through natural lime pointing.

In addition to the main barn volume an additional annex building was constructed which created a calm and light filled home gym and social space.
