New Build Country House on Greenfeld Site
Alongside Peter Bradford Architects
MailenDesign were appointed to develop this substantial new-build country house from initial schematic designs by Peter Bradford Architects. Based within a wonderful mature landscape the three storey building accommodates 5 bedrooms along with extensive social and leisure spaces at ground floor and basement levels. An underground garage provides secure parking.
The design seeks to achieve a contemporary country home which capitalises on the surrounding landscape vie double aspect views and controlled apertures to corner windows. Overhanging eaves bring down the mass of the home nestling the scheme into the cotext.
The studio worked closely with the Main Contractor and other consultants to develop a fully detailed BIM model which helped the client understand the space whilst developing details for costing purposes. The use of Virtual Reality technology helped bring the project to life for the client who had previously only seen 2D drawings of their project. This approach to designing through details in 3D allowed the scheme to move forward hugely during what would ordinarily be a technical detailed stage.
The scheme is due to start on site in November 2019 when the use of an integrated BIM model including data from Structural and M&E engineers will be implemented for clash detection and to review details closely as they progress during construction.
